design context crit boards

boards showing what i have been looking at for my fmp and directions for context book.

concept: not so much a concept, but a book running through all the studios that have influenced me throughout my time on this course, adopting a similar design approach and aesthetic as to what i am interested in.
using it as a last opportunity to contact studios, and kind of lick arse a bit with them. Conduct interviews with each studio on approaches to design, and questions about specific projects relating to my practice.
Couple of double page spreads of work by a studio followed by interviews conducted, same format running all the way though.
a5 - professionally bound/ hand bound, hard back book.

main focus being on the design of the book, with images along with body text.

These are some studios that i have already influenced my practice, some of which i have all ready made contact with.

need to make a start with interviews, and finding a suitable publisher.

IDEAAAA - logo development

The change in ledding on the logo could be applied throughout the whole design work, and be used as a running theme though out project, with all of the headers following the pattern change in leading as the logo, so as the logo goes up so does all of the letters in the header that are in line with it.

Here is it put to work, which i think has a really interesting effect.
might be quite hard to read it some circumstances however, may need some further development.

new logo concept

Think i may of accidentally come up with a decent logo concept from messing about with that previous flyer, with the two words code and breaker broken up by changing the ledding between them.
Here's some development of this concept.

Quite liked this one down here, with the words broken up, relates to the whole codebreaker concept of the exhibition itself - breaking the code like - so would be very fitting to use for this brief.
Tested it at a range of sizes also which i felt would quite well throughout.

Underlined - add another element to the logo.

testing Colourways? although i feel that white works best

Quite happy with this as a potential logo, going to mess around and develop the idea some more but i feel this is a good starting point.

testing body text.

Saw some flyer the other day that used this scientific typeface for the body text which worked really well, ill get it on here as DC when i scan it. And though that a similar approach would work perfectly for the codebreaker brief.
So i quickly mocked up a flyer to test some body text typefaces.

Im using helvetica for headers, i know, i know, but i just dont care. it looks nice.

Typeface: Museo 500

Typeface: OCR A Std

Typeface: Rockwell

Typeface: Prestige Elite Std

I reckon OCR A Std may be a winner.
-
The most legible out of the 4 and would work really well applied to a range of outcomes at a range of sizes for the brief.

codebreaker - logo, stroke?

just the stroke seems to work quite well on these posters.

codebreaker - further experiments/development

Further promotional development, trying to incorporate radiowaves patterns within the design work.

Codebreaker - poster concept

Using the radiowave patterns that we created using an online software i then started testing out different colours, typefaces and layouts for Codebreaker promotional material, really liked the way this one turned out, will try to incorporate similar aesthetics within the project.

wallis - fashion branding, initial experiments

Initial logo concepts for the fashion branding, gemma wallis.
Not really too keen on any of these concepts as of yet, however i was following trends from other fashion designers, using simple sans serrif bold type. Looks quite crisp, but not a good enough idea as of yet to go ahead with.

codebreaker - pattern/identity experiments

Further development of patterns
